Announcing ‘Fate Misnamed’: A Psychological Crime Thriller Novella

Happy Holidays everybody! This is the only Christmassy photo I have on my phone. As you might know, I write on Medium. A lot. 350+ articles, in fact. What you might not know is I am an author as well. I have written three detective thriller novels and one psychological thriller. The former comprise a series. I self-published the first one when I was nineteen. Which sounds nice, but nobody should publish anything at nineteen.
I like to think my skills have evolved since then. The first three novels contain two protagonists: a female Army-officer-turned-private-investigator named Radha Bose, and her clinically depressed and anxious assistant, Aditya Gokhale. Aditya was originally a fictionalized me, an outlet for my own mental illness, but he has since evolved into his own character. Radha also suffers from PTSD.
Two things are underrepresented in fiction: mental illness and female protagonists. And I wanted to fix both of that. This series, which I call the Radha Bose series, will contain five main entries when I am done. However, the fourth one will take ages for me to complete. I have some 500 pages of story to get out. With my efforts on Medium, that will take time. I hope the wait will be worth it for everyone.
However, it will be a long wait. In the meantime I am writing a novella titled Fate Misnamed. It will feature Radha and Aditya and will take place between the events of the first and second books. This series is about two people solving complex crimes while helping each other through their mental illnesses, and Fate Misnamed will be a shorter version of that. I am writing it so it can be the perfect starting point for newcomers.
I have never done this before. I have never announced anything. I am still on the first page, but I wanted to share this, and keep you all informed about my progress. If you care, that is. If you do not, please comment that below and I will not share anything else until the book’s out, which I am hoping will happen by March 2024. I am hoping people will read it, and share their input, whether it be laudatory or critical.

I wrote them when I was young, and while I stand by the story and the characters, the writing is terrible. Amateurish. I want Fate Misnamed to be a showcase of what I can really do. Although I suppose the fourth book, Motherson, is already that.
