I'm extremely sorry to hear about your son. That's something no parent should ever have to go through. I doubt anybody in your shoes would find anything related to suicide remotely funny.

I feel humor is a way to tear down resistances. If you can laugh with somebody, you instantly form a connection with them. I think that can be one way to broach difficult subejcts. For instance, I've seen posts on social media where the poster says they want to kill themselves because of a given trigger. They are exaggerating, of course, they wouldn't really kill themselves, but such posts do spark dialogue. If I forward that post to a friend, and they relate to it, they'll vent about that trigger, and maybe they'll feel better for it. Some people have a hard time sharing their feelings, but can do so via humor. That is one way I feel humor sparks honest dialogue.
