Okay, I could write an essay on this. But since you used the label 'selfish', wouldn't it be selfish of your parents to ask you to keep bearing unimaginable pain and anguish day after day, year after year, just for their sake?
Let's avoid if-then statements here. 'If a person is thinking of suicide, then they are selfish.' They are black-and-white. They make you close-minded. Reality is never that binary.
And labels, too. Being suicidal is not selfish. It just is. I've been in that state. The normal rules don't apply then. You're in survival mode.
Suicide is complex. It's not a straight transaction, like your parents loaned you $100, so you owe them $100. There are a multitude of factors involved. And what of the parents who themselves attempt suicide and leave their children behind? I certainly hope you don't call them selfish too.
Huh I did end up writing an essay.
